Two nodes within 60 km, both holding pulse-per-second lock, can triangulate a real altitude and speed rather than an angular track. That pairing is worth more than any single sensor upgrade, which is why this page leads with clock quality rather than with hardware.

A second node near an existing one is the highest-value thing you can build

Coverage of a new region is good. A baseline against a node that already exists is better, because it converts both nodes from bearing-only instruments into a system that measures position. If you are within sixty kilometres of a node on this map, that is where to put yours.
